Tommy Dominguez successfully opposed a Football Banning Order sought by the Crown Prosecution Service.
The application arose after Tommy’s client was found to be carrying a quantity of cocaine while attending a Premier League fixture between West Ham United and Manchester United at the London Stadium.
Following careful cross-examination of the Dedicated Football Officer attached to the Metropolitan Police Central Football Unit, and detailed submissions that the imposition of the order would be unjust in all the circumstances, the Court declined to impose a Football Banning Order.
The Order sought by the CPS included passport surrender requirements and significant restrictions on movement on match days, and would have been imposed for a minimum period of three years. Given that Tommy’s client is a businessman and chairman of a non-league football club, the consequences of such an order would have been particularly detrimental.
Tommy was privately instructed by Kinneri Patel of MPR Solicitors LLP.
