Public Access Barristers

Many of our barristers have been trained to accept Public Access instructions.  This means that in certain circumstances they can be instructed by a member of the public directly without the need to instruct a solicitor.  For more information on Public Access please use this [link].

The advantages of Public Access are:

  • The possibility of securing the early involvement of a barrister
  • The highest quality advice and/or representation by a barrister of your choice
  • Direct line of communication with the barrister (can be in person, by email or by telephone)
  • Cost-effective advice or representation, that can be less expensive than instructing both a solicitor and a barrister privately

If you are interested in instructing one of our barristers using Public Access and would like to discuss whether your case is suitable for this type of representation, please contact our clerks for an initial discussion.  Not all cases are appropriate for instruction using Public Access, and legal aid funding at present cannot be used in Public Access cases.
