Michael Edmonds leading Tommy Dominguez, represented a Defendant in what is believed to be the first time a murder victim’s body has been successfully recovered from a landfill site in the UK.
The victim was murdered in November 2024 following a dispute with a love rival. His body was then mutilated and placed in a commercial waste bin, before being collected by unwitting contractors and transported to a landfill site.
A forensic search operation of unprecedented scale followed, which included the deployment of specialist forensic search teams, a forensic anthropologist, and a broader search team involving 1,656 officers, totalling 16,000 man-hours, over 46 days.
Following a complex three-week trial at Chelmsford Crown Court, the Defendant was convicted (by a majority of 11 to 1) of Assisting an Offender and Preventing the Lawful and Decent Burial of a Body.
The murder suspect fled the country following the incident and remains at large.
This case will be the subject of a Channel 4 documentary, Catching a Killer, which is due to broadcast in early 2026.
Michael and Tommy were instructed by Paul Block of Levy & Co. Solicitors.
