4BB Chambers is delighted to announce that Matthew Jolliffe has won his first trial at Croydon Magistrates’ Court.
Matthew successfully defended his client against an allegation of using threatening words or behaviour with intent to cause fear of immediate unlawful violence (s4, Public Order Act 1986).
The Crown alleged that Matthew’s client had, at his home address, verbally threatened three civil enforcement officers with the production of a firearm and assault.
The Defendant denied intention, giving evidence that he did not intend to cause the enforcement officers to believe that immediate unlawful violence would be used against them, and that he felt personally threatened, so proactively called the police to avoid a breach of the peace.
Matthew was instructed by Andy Floyd of Victor Clifford Solicitors.
