Jon Mitchell secured the acquittal for his client charged with Conspiracy to Supply Class A Drugs.
Following a two-week trial at Wood Green Crown Court, Jon’s client was unanimously acquitted after two hours. Six other Defendants who were jointly indicted at trial were all convicted. This was the third trial associated with the conspiracy which concerned a major drugs line supplying over 7 kilograms of Heroin and Cocaine.
Jon was able to successfully raise a modern slavery defence for his vulnerable and young client, who was a juvenile during the period of the conspiracy. The trial involved various issues concerning the effect of the National Referral Mechanism’s conclusive findings, expert medical evidence and silence in interview, as well as the Defendant not giving evidence in his own defence at trial. The Defendant maintains his good character.
Jon Mitchell was instructed by Seema Parikh and Kiran Dhanoa of MPR Solicitors.
