Ian Stewart sentenced to a life sentence for the murder of Helen Bailey

Ian Stewart was yesterday sentenced to a life sentence, having been convicted of the murder of Helen Bailey. Prosecuted by Stuart Trimmer KC, Stewart was sentenced to a life term and a schedule 21 term before he can be considered for release. HHJ Bright set that minimum term at 34 years, being the paragraph 5 30 year starting point, increased as a result of aggravating feature within paragraph 10. There will be confiscation proceedings in due course.
