After a 6-day trial at Leicester (sitting at Loughborough) Crown Court Christopher Surtees-Jones’ lay client was acquitted of stirring up racial hatred before and during the recent riots following the deaths of three young girls in Southport.
The case was prosecuted by the CPS Counter-Terrorism Division. Posts on X (Twitter) were said by the prosecution to express far right views on immigrants and Muslims. The defendant was found not guilty by the jury after a closing speech by Christopher addressing freedom of speech.
Christopher was instructed by Paul Tubb at Mander Cruickshank Solicitors.
