The Defendant was sentenced in respect of three counts of Causing Serious Injury by Dangerous Driving. Successful representations were made concerning the Defendant’s impairment following his consumption of nitrous oxide during the journey, ultimately resulting in a reduction from a starting point of 3 years’ custody to 1 years’ custody. The Defendant received a sentence of1 years’ imprisonment, with the sentence appealed to the Court of Appeal in respect of suspending the term of imprisonment given the Defendant’s employment as a professional footballer.
