“A dedicated, diligent and masterful advocate"

Tommy Dominguez has a busy criminal practice. He is a tenacious, skilled and dedicated advocate whose excellent client care and rapport with all court users has been widely recognised. Tommy is renowned for his meticulous case preparation, persuasive trial advocacy and his ability to ensure his clients are provided with clear and focused advice in a way that they understand. Tommy has acted as a led junior and a junior alone.

Tommy is also an accredited Police Station Representative. This has enabled him to obtain a thorough understanding of the early stages of a criminal case, whilst appreciating the importance of how well an individual is able to defend their matter depending on what happens at the police station. Tommy has represented clients at the police station for a range of offences, including rape, attempted murder and serious fraud allegations. Notable cases include the Essex lorry deaths of 39 Vietnamese migrants widely reported in national news, and the A127 hitandrun Christmas Day death.

Prior to joining 4BB, Tommy volunteered with a number of organisations. He successfully represented disadvantaged clients in welfare appeals before the First Tier Tribunal with Z2K. Tommy also volunteered as a caseworker with Amicus, providing remote support for capital defenders in the US for firstdegree murder cases; with the Citizens Advice Bureau; as a Probation Mentor; and as a case worker on the Innocence Project, where here viewed a number of murder cases where miscarriages of justice were alleged.

Tommy has previously delivered talks in schools and youth centres across London and Essex encouraging young people to pursue a legal career. He has also delivered legallythemed presentations to prisoners at HMP Brixton.

Alongside his role as a Barrister, Tommy is a FIFA Licensed Football Agent registered with the FA.

R v BA (Luton Crown Court)

The Defendant was accused of Possession of an Imitation Firearm with Intent to Cause Fear of Violence and Possession of an Offensive Weapon. The Defendant was said to have produced an air pistol and discharged it ten times, whilst also being in possession of an old-style police truncheon. The Defendant was acquitted for both offences.

R v PW (Basildon Crown Court)

The Defendant was charged with Possession with Intent to Supply Class A Drugs, after 11.5 kilos of cocaine was seized by police. The Defendant initially faced a sentence with a starting point of 14 years’ custody. Following successful representations made, the Defendant received a sentence of 7.5 years’ imprisonment.

The Judge was persuaded to defer sentence, before later imposing a sentence of 20 months’ imprisonment suspended for 18 months, with no requirements attached.

R v FC (Peterborough Crown Court)

The Defendant was sentenced in respect of three counts of Causing Serious Injury by Dangerous Driving. Successful representations were made concerning the Defendant’s impairment following his consumption of nitrous oxide during the journey, ultimately resulting in a reduction from a starting point of 3 years’ custody to 1 years’ custody. The Defendant received a sentence of 1 years’ imprisonment, with the sentence appealed to the Court of Appeal in respect of suspending the term of imprisonment given the Defendant’s employment as a professional footballer.

R v GE (Basildon Crown Court)

The Defendant was acquitted of Assault on an Emergency Worker and Criminal Damage to a Police Officer’s watch. The Defendant was pursued and arrested by the officer following his refusal to provide details for a Coronavirus Fixed Penalty Notice. The Prosecution ultimately offered no evidence in respect of all charges.

R v KB (Basildon Crown Court)

The Defendant received a sentence of 20 weeks’ imprisonment at Southend Magistrates’ Court for various offences of Assaults on Emergency Workers. The Defendant appealed against sentence on the basis that it was manifestly excessive. The appeal was successful and the Defendant was made subject to a community order instead.
