Simone Newton has undertaken both her first and second six pupillage with 4BB Chambers.
Whilst still in her second six, Simone won her first trial at Ealing Magistrates’ Court. Her careful cross-examination of a child witness led to the acquittal of her lay client on an allegation of common assault. She has also successfully made a submission of no case in relation to an allegation of obstructing a police constable in the execution of his duty.
Simone is developing a Youth Court practice and recently persuaded a court to extend an existing youth referral order in relation to an offence of possession of a bladed article. She has also started prosecuting in the Crown Court.
Before coming to the Bar Simone worked as a Senior Criminal Paralegal at RBB Law Solicitors where she worked on a wide range of Police Station, Magistrates and Crown Court cases.
Simone has experience of working with the police during her time at SFR Medical, where she assisted in organising streamlined medical reports to aid in both charging decisions and trials. Simone volunteered as a police cadet leader for the Gravesend Police Cadet Unit, running criminal advocacy sessions for members aged 13–17.
Simone’s first six pupil supervisor was Philip Misner and her second Six pupil supervisor was Joe Mckenna.
