Background

Simon Wilshire

Call 1994

Simon’s early career at the Bar centred around defence work, during which time he appeared as both a junior and as a led junior. The latter occasions involved lengthy trials for such matters as murder, conspiracy to rob, conspiracy to supply Class A drugs and Modern Slavery.

In more recent years the majority of Simon’s time has been spent prosecuting for the CPS. In this regard Simon now regularly receives instructions to prosecute a wide variety of Class I offences (murder, manslaughter). In respect of these cases Simon is often instructed to prosecute such cases alone or as the Leading Junior. Simon also regularly acts as the led junior in multi-handed murder trials.

When not engaged in Class I offences, Simon is routinely asked to prosecute cases of particular sensitivity and complexity and is regularly instructed to prosecute cases involving vehicular homicide, serious sexual offending, firearms offences, Modern Slavery allegations, blackmail and multi-handed drugs conspiracies founded on ‘Encrochat’ evidence.
