Michael Edmonds’ practice involves serious and complex criminal cases, across the spectrum of offending, from dishonesty (including mortgage fraud, Tax/VAT fraud, TradingStandards investigations, DWP prosecutions, HMRC criminal and civil forfeiture matters, and City of London Police fraud operations), through violence (including murder, firearms offences, and Operation Trident, London Crime Squad and National Crime Agency investigations), to drug trafficking (e.g. international drug trafficking and conspiracy allegations-as a former RCPO/UKBA prosecutor, I have specialist expertise in procedural& disclosure issues, surveillance, RIPA, and intelligence/undercover operations).

Michael has dealt with many multi-handed organised crime and conspiracy allegations(including armed robberies, money laundering, people trafficking, and cases involving specialist police units-e.g. Flying Squad, Complex Crime Unit, Major Crime Unit, etc.)

He is authorised to conduct sensitive cases: those involving child witnesses, and those involving serious sexual offences, and is focussed on representing young defendants in such case. Michael is one of the leading practitioners in representing those with special needs in these cases(e.g. autistic spectrum disorder/Aspergers)

Michael’s other areas of expertise include military law, with considerable experience defending UK Armed Services personnel in the Court Martial or the Crown Court, both in the UK and abroad.

Michael can be instructed to provide advice in cases involving professional or regulatory issues, e.g. Coroner’s Court, GMC, NMC, HPC. He continues to represent clients in more serious quasi-criminal matters e.g. licensing matters involving the police (particularly appeals re: Firearms Act and Licensing Act), DWP, RSPCA, VOSA, etc, and has over 18 years experience of advising and representing clients in cases involving confiscation, forfeiture, and the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002.
