Jack joined Chambers in 2023 as a pupil and became a tenant on completion of his pupillage. He has a busy practice primarily in the Crown Court although he does also appear in both the Magistrates and Youth Court.  Jack is instructed to prosecute and defend in a wide variety of criminal offences including offences involving serious violence, dishonesty, and drugs.

 

Prior to pupillage, Jack worked in the criminal department of a high ranked firm of solicitors in East London. He assisted one of the Partners in managing a wide range of Crown Court and Magistrates Court cases. Jack also qualified as an accredited police station representative and regularly represented clients in police stations all over London.

Notable Public Prosecutions cases


  • R v DS – Reading Crown Court

    Prosecuted a man accused of punching and biting the mother of his child. Unanimously convicted by the jury after a 4 day trial

  • R v NB – Oxford Crown Court

    Prosecuted a man accused of dwelling burglary. Unanimous conviction after a 3 day trial.

  • R v CW – Woolwich Crown Court

    Prosecuted a woman accused of stealing from Sainsbury’s and subsequently stabbing a security officer. Unanimously convicted of all offences after a 3 day trial.

  • R v CC – Reading Crown Court

    Prosecuted man accused of being concerned in the supply of cannabis. Guilty plea entered on the first day of trial.

  • R v JC – Reading Crown Court

    Prosecuted a man accused possession with intent to supply crack cocaine and heroin. Guilty plea entered on the first day of trial.

  • R v MS – Reading Crown Court

    Prosecuted a man accused of strangling and assaulting his partner of multiple occasions throughout 2024 and 2025. Guilty plea entered on the first day of trial.

Notable Criminal Defence cases


  • R v RF – Reading Crown Court

    Defended a career burglar with 47 previous offences for theft and burglary from allegedly burgling money from a neighbour. Unanimously acquitted after a 3 day trial.

  • R v DS – Reading Crown Court

    Defended a man accused of strangling and assaulting his wife. Acquitted of intentional strangulation after a 5 day trial.

  • R v AZ – Aylesbury Crown Court

    Defended man who had pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply crack cocaine and heroin. Secured sentence of 33 months’ imprisonment despite this being the defendant’s second convicted for Class A drug dealing and the prosecution arguing that the starting point for sentence was 54 months’ imprisonment.

  • R v KJ – Bromley Youth Court

    Defended a child accused of a knife point robbery. Made submissions that the police had failed to comply with the requirements of Code D, thereby rendering the identification evidence so unreliable that it ought to be excluded from the evidence under s. 78 of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984. The prosecution subsequently offered no evidence.

Notable Fraud cases


  • R v RK & OK – Southwark Crown Court

    Jack was instructed by the Financial Conduct Authority as a disclosure reviewer on a large insider trading case lasting several months. Jack has an in depth knowledge of the disclosure regime as well as a working knowledge of evidence management systems such as EDT.

During Jack’s pupillage, his supervisor Matthew Kirk was involved in the case of R v ADT [2023] EWCA Crim 1536 which confirmed the principles set out in R v Ahmed [2023] EWCA Crim 281 namely, that when sentencing adults for offences they committed as children, the starting point is the sentence the adult would have received if sentenced as a child.

Jack welcomes instructions in cases where a defendant is being sentenced as an adult for offences committed as a child. Jack has a thorough understanding of the relevant case law and is able to make robust submissions as to the correct approach to sentencing in these difficult cases.

Jack has experience in the Youth Court more broadly and accepts instructions where certificate for counsel has been granted.
