Hassan is an active member of the Reserve Force and has been mobilised several times with overseas deployments to the Middle East. In 2020 – 21, he was mobilised to work within the Service Complaints Team and concentrated on all high-profile inappropriate behaviour cases and managed complaints which were dealt by the Defence Council.
Secured an acquittal of a 78 year old person of good character who had been accused of 13 counts of historic sexual offences. One of the complainants died shortly after being interviewed by the Police and therefore could not be cross examined.
Represented a juror who conducted research during deliberations. Following submissions in mitigation the defendant did not receive a sentence of imprisonment.
Prosecuted a case involving a mentally unwell person taking a knife into a school. Following a trial, he received a hospital order with restrictions.
Secured an acquittal of a 20 year old man of good character, who was accused of being in possession of class A drugs with intent to supply. The Crown relied on cell site analysis of a “drug phone” and the Defendant’s phone. Following cross examination of the prosecution expert, the strength of the Crown’s case was weakened considerably.
