Background

Christopher Surtees-Jones

Call 1997

"Chris is great to work with. Always well prepared and an excellent manner with clients involved in challenging cases. A very effective advocate and highly committed to both lay and professional client."

“His calming demeanour and complete control over the court room was an amazing thing to watch”

Christopher is an experienced and dedicated advocate with an exclusively criminal defence practice as a leader, led junior and junior alone. A central part of his approach is that he will always fight for the most favourable outcome for his clients.

Christopher’s normal practice areas include all aspects of criminal defence work, including murder and serious violence and public order allegations. Drugs allegations form a major part of Christopher’s work, and he was instructed in one of the longest running and largest drugs supply cases in UK legal history. Whilst drugs and violence allegations are the majority of Christopher’s work he is also experienced in sexual offences cases and defends in rape and other serious allegations.

As part of his careful preparation of cases Christopher has a good working knowledge of the impact of mobile phone evidence in cases, including Encrochat cases.

As a former army officer Christopher has a good knowledge of the service environment and has extensive experience in the military Courts Martial.
